The 1997 YZF600R Thundercat carried a restyled single-headlight nose with a ram-air scoop and a one-piece seat, replacing the earlier twin cat-eye headlights. It was a middleweight sports-tourer with a steel Deltabox frame, a carbureted 600 four and well-regarded four-piston front calipers. Aimed at everyday road riders rather than racers, it offered long range and good wind protection.
